Armenia is one of the world’s leading country where natural gas is used as fuel for vehicles. It can serve as an example for other countries.
There are currently more than 360 CNG fueling stations in Armenia. CNG fuel stations account for 25% of the volume of natural gas produced in the country. Monthly sales of natural gas as fuel for vehicles is over 26 million cubic meters.
Draw attention to the difference in the annual volume of compressed natural gas sold between Armenia and Moldova. Similarly, the Price of CNG is 54% cheaper than the price of diesel.
It is also impressive Armenia’s results considering it’s lack of natural gases and the fact that the relief of the country is mostly mountainous.
The active development of the CNG market was facilitated by the Renovation and Gasification Programme implemented between 1998 and 2011 by “Gazprom Armenia”.
The compressed natural gas market in Armenia is fully liberalised and continues to expand as a result of this approach.
The change of putting public, municipal, agricultural and private freight transport on the CNG, as well as the expansion of consumer demand for this type of automotive fuel, have led to an annual increase in the consumption of natural gas in the transport sector.
