There has been a major increase in the number of cars working on compressed gas in the last couple of years. The country is in the top three in terms of their absolute number. According to the &#8220;Transforming Mobility Through Natural Gas&#8221; report, in 2019 the number of cars on gas-powered fuel is 3.3 million, and by 2030 it is expected to be 33 million..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The share of natural gas transport in the vehicle fleet is 6%. On 1 August 2020 approximately 2,290 CNG filling stations were registered in India and the total consumption of CNG in 2020 was over 4.5 billion m3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first step in the use and distribution of compressed natural gas in India was the launch in the early 1990s of the &#8220;CNG Programme&#8221; initiative.
